We are pleased to announce our 2016 Women’s History Month Luncheon sponsored by Diversified Health Care, LLC. This special event will be held at The Admiral Hotel from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. This luncheon is dedicated to celebrating where we, as women, have been and where we are heading! We are excited to feature Lynn Mackie, an International Soprano Opera Singer, as this year’s speaker. Lynn Mackie| International Soprano
Recognized across Europe as one of today’s most exciting sopranos, Lynn L. Mackie continues to gather popular acclaim in performances in Europe, South America and the United States. She has been applauded for her unique style, expressive vocal arrangements and interpretation, as well as her unique infusion of classical and soulful music with elegant stage presence.
Her career has taken her to some of the world’s most famous opera houses, cathedrals, castles, concert halls and the White House. Lynn Mackie has become particularly well known to operatic audiences across Europe, & South America including France, England, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Bolivia and Italy where she studied and began her vocal career under the tutelage of renowned vocal coach Pieralba Soroga, and where she began her professional career as an opera singer.
Lynn made her European concert debut at the Teatro Verdi Opera house in Pisa, Italy in 1998 as a student with New York University in Italy. At the request of the Teatro Verdi and the Citta di Pisa, Lynn was invited each year to perform a concert for the Strada a Facendo musicale festival at the famous opera house. She also has had the honor of performing in concert in The Villa di Vico Castle, Poggio al Cassione Castle & Winery, Pisano Luminnare Festival, Mascagni di Cherubini as well as numerous performances in Rome, Venice and Florence, Italy to name a few.
Lynn has performed several principal opera roles throughout her vocal career with various opera companies across the United States and Europe. Some of the roles that she has performed include; Rosalinda in “Die Fledermause”, Countessa in “Le Nozze di Figaro”, and Blanche in “Les dialogues des Carmelites” to name a few. But it was her debut role in Puccini’s Tosca that was most monumental in the early stages of her career. This led to many opportunities to perform across the United States and Europe as well as performances on Television broadcast, and radio broadcast nationally and internationally. She currently performs live in concert throughout the year in the United States and abroad while also taking time to mentor young artist and other youth in various programs.
Ms. Mackie has also done several major recordings and worked with recording artist in classical, gospel and popular music. She has released three albums and two “Live in Concert” DVD’s and released her new CD “From my Heart” in 2014. She has also performed as the featured Artist with several renowned choirs and orchestras in Europe and the United States including La Bonamici Chorale, Baroque Orchestra (Tuscany), Jubilation Choir of Livorno, Italy, Voices of Heaven, Pisa, Italy The Tuskegee University” Golden Voices” Concert Choir, The Alabama A&M Concert Choir, and The Wiley College” Great Debaters Choir” to name a few.
In February 2015, Lynn traveled to Bolivia, South America for the U.S Embassy where she was featured in concert while singing special compositions of conductor/composer Julio Barragàn Saucedo with “Amigos del Coro Sinfonico”. While there she also taught masters classes on “the soulfulness of American music” as well as performed on live television broadcast and in concert for the Ambassadors of Bolivia, Peru, Columbia & Brazil.
In 2000, Lynn Mackie founded the Italian Opera Study Abroad program Inc. This program allows a select group of students from the United States who aspire for professional careers in classical music to study opera in Italy for the summer with Ms. Mackie and study under world renowned vocal coaches, professors and opera singers. Students study for 1 month and perform in concert with Ms. Mackie as a finale in Italy.
Along with her performances in Italy every summer, Lynn also teaches a course she designed entitled “Singing with Soul”. This course has become widely popular among the Italians in the Tuscany region for the past five years. In this course, students within the Tuscany region and from the University learn to sing gospel and spiritual music in a southern soulful style.
Lynn is the recipient of numerous awards and honors in vocal performance and community service including awards of distinction from two Governors of the State of Alabama, The City of Mobile & the City of Pisa (Italy).
Ms. Mackie is the mother of two boys, Samuel (11) and Jordan (5). She received her undergraduate degree from Tuskegee University and her musical training and education under Professor Pieralba Soroga of Pisa, Italy, as well as the University of New Orleans and New York University. She holds a Master’s degree, she is currently completing her dissertation and will be a candidate for her Doctoral degree in 2016.
