WBA and WBCRAL Awarded a Grant From The Community Foundation of South Alabama

(Mobile, Ala.) The Women’s Business Alliance and Women’s Business Center of Rural Alabama are proud recipients of The Community Foundation of South Alabama’s Economic Opportunity grant. The WBA and WBCRAL were awarded this grant alongside three other high caliber organizations, Goodwill Easter Seals of the Gulf Coast, The Boys and Girls Club of South Alabama, and The Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center.

The CFSA Economic Opportunity Grant will fund, in part, the WBA’s Know Your Money Grow Your Money, financial literacy program. Through the KYMGYM program, high school seniors in five rural counties will gain the opportunity to greatly improve their level of knowledge and skills in financial education. The KYMGYM curriculum consists of eight components, from the dangers of credit card debt and bad credit, to creating a personal budget, the importance of saving and investing, and assisting them in creating a plan to achieve their financial goals.

“At The Community Foundation of South Alabama we are proud of our competitive grant making and the positive change it helps us produce in the community,” said Rebecca Byrne, CFSA President and CEO. “The work done by the Women’s Business Alliance and the Women’s Business Center of Rural Alabama is integral to the health and vibrancy of citizens in these rural counties and we are happy to help them continue to affect change.”

The Women’s Business Alliance provides extensive business training, coaching, and networking opportunities to nine counties in South Alabama, with their mission being the economic empowerment of women by assisting them to start and grow successful small businesses.

The Women’s Business Alliance, a nonprofit organization, serves as an umbrella for two projects: the Women’s Business Center of Rural Alabama and the Women’s Business Center of South Alabama. WBCRAL serves Clarke, Conecuh, Escambia, Monroe, and Washington counties and WBCSA serves Baldwin and Mobile counties.
